Who Am I?
My name is Sarah! Welcome to Elemental Tree Photography, a place where you can see my photography journey and soon even buy a print or two if it suits you!
I have always had a love for photography, ever since I was a kid. I remember one of the items that I always wanted to obtain in my pre-teen years was a camcorder. Well, since I was a pre-teen in the early 90's, I never got quite the money to fulfill that wish. Instead, I would run around with a 35mm disposable camera, and fingers that always ended up in front of the lens.
Now, in my older years, it's a completely different story. I guess you can compare my Go Pro 13 camera to be the equivalent of the camcorder that I always wanted, but the Sony 7RV that I primarily use, is a game changer. Now I can take all of the editable photographs that I want, and record up to 8k video.
Game. Changer.
In the coming months, I will be finishing up a Bachelor's degree of Arts, with a major in Digital Photography. I decided that this was a good time to get my website setup so that I can grow as a photographer, and share my experiences with you!
My goal is to not only show you, the viewer, the world and everything in it through my eyes, but to grow my skills as a photographer and as a person. I will post photographs, my own artwork, and even projects and tutorials. I would love for you to interact with me! That's really the only way that I will be able to keep growing and learning.
Why the name "Elemental Tree Photography"?
Well, the name "Elemental Tree" felt personal to me and to my growth as a photographer and as a person. "Elemental" was meant to mirror the definition of "embodying nature" as described by Oxford Lnguages. I find that a lot of what I love to photograph centers around nature, and includes nature's various elements, like water, earth, etc.
For the tree, well, trees have roots, often deep ones, that keep them planted to Earth. A typical grounded and well rounded entity tends to be rooted like trees, and trees serve as a solid foundation for long periods of time if nourished. I would like to think that at this point of my life, I am well rooted like a tree with elements in my work embodying nature, and hence the name, "Elemental Tree", or a tree embodying the elements of nature. There are also spiritual reasons why the name resonates with me, but that is neither here nor there and maybe a side topic for later..
So here we are, at the beginning of Elemental Tree Photography. I hope that you like it here, and that my artwork resonates with you in some way. I would love to receive feedback on what you enjoy, dislike, or how I could improve my website or the content that I offer, so please leave a comment!
